Vegas Baby!

We decided that even though we couldn't afford it, we were going to Vegas for our six year anniversary. Who knows, we might win it all back, right?

Since we live an hour or so from the airport and our flight left at 7:00 am, the limo picked us up at the unGodly hour of 4:00 am . We figured we be able to catch up on our sleep on the plane and be ready for a fun-filled day in Sin City. Then, as we're boarding the plane, we realize we're in the last row on the plane - just before the crew's jump-seats and the galley. The row where the seats don't recline. So much for catching up on our sleep!

After an uneventful and sleepless flight, we hopped a bus to the Luxor Hotel and Casino. We soaked up our first peek at The Strip as we hopped from Hotel to Hotel dropping off other guests. Since we arrived so early, we had ample time to peruse the grounds of the Luxor before checking into our room. Lemme tell ya, this pyramid is gigantic!

As hot as it was (I think 107 that day), we headed straight for the pool. Of course to get there, you have to walk through the casino - that's a big theme in Vegas - walking through the casino. After successfully navigating the casino maze, we arrived at the pool and scouted the deck for primo seats - a bit of privacy, but not too far from the pool bar and grill. After identifying a few areas with potential, we headed inside to cool off and get a bite to eat. Then, it was back to the front desk to check in.

After getting through the check-in mayhem and dragging our luggage to the opposite end of the pyramid (thanks for the bum directions, Marcie!), we were exhausted and decided to crash for a while so we could get through our first night on the town in Vegas. After a brief nap, it was off to the pool for some R&R before our big dinner at the Stratosphere.

After a few hours of relaxation (and cocktails) in the desert sun, it was back up to the pyramid to get decked out for dinner at the Top of the World restaurant in the Stratosphere. When packing for the trip, Vegas seemed like the perfect setting for the wifey to wear her leather pants. I'm sure, in the "cooler" months, it probably is - but in the sweltering summer sun... a Friends episode comes to mind. Anyway, it wasn't easy to look like a million bucks in leather pants in 107 degrees but she did it with style!
